Kavai by LK Hjelle. Comfort in the smallest gestures
Comfort rarely depends on grand gestures. More often, it emerges from small decisions that go unnoticed until they are experienced. Kavai, designed by Hallgeir Homstvedt for LK Hjelle, is born from this understanding of design.
An armchair of compact dimensions, where proportion, ergonomics and visual lightness work in balance to create a naturally comfortable experience. Because sometimes the difference lies in something as simple as finding the right place to rest your arms.
The importance of a well-designed armrest.
During the development of Kavai, Hallgeir Homstvedt devoted particular attention to one specific element: the armrest. A decision rooted in a simple observation. To truly relax, the position of the hands is just as important as the softness of the seat.
For this reason, the generous armrest that defines Kavai’s identity gently slopes towards the back, allowing the arms, shoulders and elbows to settle into a natural position. A precise gesture that creates an immediate sense of ease, enveloping the user with the same effortless comfort as a coat on a cold day.
The generosity of this volume contrasts with the visual lightness of the structure, creating a balanced piece where comfort and proportion exist in natural harmony.
Visual lightness, lasting comfort.
Kavai has a calm and contemporary presence. Its slender silhouette avoids any sense of heaviness, while its soft, embracing forms bring warmth and familiarity.
As with the finest examples of Scandinavian design, nothing is excessive. Every line, every angle and every volume serves a clear purpose. The result is an armchair that supports the body without imposing itself, offering a relaxed and enduring seating experience.
A piece for different ways of living.
Available in seven fabric colours and three leather finishes, Kavai offers a range of customisation options without altering the essence of its design. Material variations that allow the piece to adapt naturally to different projects and atmospheres.
True to LK Hjelle’s philosophy, Kavai understands comfort as a matter of precision. It is not about adding more, but about resolving better.
