Flame by Pott Project. The light born from the earth.
Flame is a lamp that speaks softly, from its origin. The body of each piece preserves the marks of the handmade process, those lines that reveal the pulse of the potter’s wheel, and turns them into a visual and tactile language. Its exterior surface can be finished in matte or gloss, while the interior, coated in a glossy glaze, amplifies the light and projects a warm, enveloping glow.
This duality, between material and light, defines Flame’s identity and reveals the beauty of the process as an essential part of the design. Two sides of the same piece: matter and light, artisanal gesture and contemporary design, coexisting in balance.
Entirely handmade, Flame is available in six versions (Bold, Bold XL, Tall, Tall XL, Wide and Wide XL), each interpreting proportion and scale with spontaneous elegance. Its structure allows for direct, focused lighting, making it suitable both as a single piece and in grouped compositions.
Each shade reveals the traces of the manual process. The subtle lines that run across its surface are not decorative, but the memory of the wheel, the imprint of the circular movement that shapes the clay. In Flame, time is not hidden; it is embraced as an essential part of its expression.
The gesture of craft.
Flame is born from a way of making that prioritises care, conscious repetition and deep knowledge of the material. Each lamp is unique, not in pursuit of difference, but because handcraft does not allow for exact copies. Clay behaves naturally, responds to fire and gesture, and allows small variations to define the final character of each piece.
The combination of traditional pottery techniques with a contemporary approach to lighting makes Flame a timeless object, a way of understanding design as continuity between past and present.
Material that gives light.
When lit, Flame emits a warm, enveloping light, filtered through the glazed interior that enhances reflection without glare. When switched off, it retains the serene presence of an object that speaks of earth, fire and transformation. Its strength lies in this dual condition: a functional luminaire and a material piece with its own identity.
Flame encapsulates the philosophy of Pott Project: designing from the origin, respecting material and process, to create objects that not only illuminate spaces, but connect them to a more conscious and essential way of inhabiting.
