Veng Bar Stool by Eikund. The height of Norwegian design.
Designed by Torbjørn Bekken in 1960, Veng Bar Stool is the most slender version of the Veng family and, at the same time, one of the most expressive pieces of mid-20th-century Norwegian design. Its unmistakable silhouette, defined by organic and clean lines, preserves the strong personality that characterises the entire collection.
With a sculptural yet balanced presence, Veng Bar Stool proves that functional design can also be deeply emotional. A piece conceived to accompany bars and kitchen islands with the natural ease that comes from well-judged proportion.
Sculpture, function and craftsmanship.
Bekken, trained at the National Academy of Craft and Art Industry and associated with the innovative Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor studio, understood furniture as an extension of the body. That vision is evident in every curve of Veng Stool, where backrest and seat engage in dialogue with the structure to provide support without rigidity and lightness without fragility.
The solid oak structure, available in five finishes, reinforces a sense of solidity and material integrity. The upholstered seat and backrest, offered in fabric or leather, add comfort and allow the piece to adapt to different settings, from domestic interiors to contract spaces, without losing its original identity.
Eikund and the relevance of legacy.
Eikund brings Veng Bar Stool back with a fidelity that goes beyond re-edition. Its work revives forgotten icons of Norwegian design with respect, precision and a deep understanding of the value of legacy. This is not about nostalgia, but responsibility.
Veng Bar Stool is a clear expression of that philosophy: a piece designed more than six decades ago that remains contemporary thanks to its formal balance, constructive honesty and ability to integrate seamlessly into modern life. A stool that stands out not through excess, but through coherence. Because when design is born from a true idea, time does not wear it down, it confirms it.
