Sia by LK Hjelle. A form that challenges balance.

Sia is a three-legged coffee table where wood meets an irregularly shaped glass tabletop with softly organic contours. The structure is made from two curved oak components that converge to create three support points for the tabletop. A simple construction, carefully resolved in every joint.

Designed by Studio Sløyd in collaboration with LK Hjelle, the table was born from the search for a straightforward construction that could combine both materials without compromising clarity. Sketches and small prototypes gradually shaped the proportions, joints and relationship between the legs, resulting in a structure that is as easy to understand as it is precise in its details.

The union of two materials.

Much of Sia’s character lies in its legs. The curves of the wood meet at a central joint that provides stability while also defining the silhouette of the table.

The glass tabletop is fixed directly to the structure, creating a visually light surface and allowing the wood to maintain a strong presence beneath it.

Three combinations.

Sia is available in three material combinations: clear glass with oak, clear glass with smoked oak, and smoked glass with black oak.

The glass finish changes the perception of the overall composition, while the wood brings its own warmth and character. The irregular shape of the tabletop and the curves of the wood give Sia a different presence depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

Glass and wood each have a character of their own, yet they coexist without competing. The shape of the tabletop, the curves of the wood and the precision of the joints draw attention to the way the piece is constructed.
