Isol by Astep. Light that listens to space.
Designed in 2021 by David Thulstrup, Isol is a collection of lamps with acoustic properties that transforms the way we understand lighting in contemporary spaces. Part sculpture, part light source, its presence does more than illuminate: it absorbs sound, enhances environmental comfort, and redefines spatial experience.
Textile technology in service of wellbeing.
At the heart of Isol is the patented Snowsound Fiber® textile, which gives the piece its sound-absorbing qualities. Produced in Italy through high-precision processes, it integrates technological innovation and material sensitivity into a coherent and responsible solution.
The textile is assembled using ultrasonic technology, a technique that eliminates the need for stitching and enables a clean, continuous bond. Even in the internal details, invisible from the outside, the constructive rigor is absolute.
The textile is fully recyclable and holds Greenguard Gold certification for low emissions, contributing to improved indoor air quality.
Suspended sculpture, contained atmosphere.
Isol is conceived as an expandable system. The connection between its rings allows both lighting capacity and acoustic absorption to be increased according to the needs of the space.
Its design, simple and free of artifice, enables multiple configurations. Available in a suspended version as well as a floor version, it can function as a single light point or as part of a larger composition. The light source is not completely concealed, yet it integrates naturally into the formal language of the design.
The flatpack solution introduces a more conscious approach to distribution and the product’s life cycle. It responds to a clear conviction: moving towards a more responsible and circular future requires rethinking how we produce, transport, and use objects.
Isol does not invade space, it balances it. A collection conceived to enhance everyday life through light, silence, and precision.
