Hunter Canvas by Eikund. The lightness of a classic.

Jul, 2026 • 2 Min. Read — General

Even before you sit down, Hunter Canvas conveys a very specific feeling: lightness. The beauty of this lounge chair lies in the balance with which each material occupies its place. The wood provides structure, while the canvas brings flexibility and comfort.

Together, they express a way of understanding design in which the structure always remains visible and every element and material fulfils the function for which it was conceived.

From this balance emerged Hunter Canvas, Torbjørn Afdal’s 1960 reinterpretation of the historic hunting chair, now regarded as one of the great classics of Norwegian design.

Structure as the central element.

The flowing silhouette of the wooden frame reveals a method of construction in which what appears simple is, in reality, the result of extraordinary precision. The canvas, tensioned with adjustable straps, provides flexibility, comfort and an exceptional ability to adapt to the shape and weight of its user.

The exposed stitching, the double-layered fabric and the solid brass fittings all follow the same constructive logic, where every detail serves a purpose.

Hunter Canvas is available with an FSC®-certified oak frame in oil, white oil, soap, black stain or smoked finishes, as well as in oiled American walnut. The frame can be paired with three canvas colours—Flax, Heather or Piqué—allowing the chair to adapt to a variety of interiors while preserving the integrity of its original design.

The beauty of time.

The richness of the wood, the texture of the canvas and the marks of everyday use gradually shape Hunter Canvas over the years. An evolution that is part of its very identity.

More than sixty years after its creation, Hunter Canvas proves that some classics endure not through nostalgia, but because they continue to respond naturally to the needs of the present. It retains the same sense of lightness, balance and material honesty with which it was first conceived.

Perhaps that is the truest definition of a classic.

Thanks

This website is dedicated to all those people who, in one way or another, have helped this project/dream/desire to begin and take shape.

Special thanks to my wife and my parents for supporting me, to Cristina Escarrà and Alfonso Pérez Rosales for generously sharing with me their experience as agents, to those clients who, in one way or another, have given me wise advice, to the brands that have placed their trust in me, and to Gonzalo, my godfather, who, with his always generous help, and guiding me throughout this process, is largely to blame for the fact that I can boast of being an “entrepreneur”.

Thanks also to Nuria, Rafa and Guillermo, who, to help me in the hard beginnings of any entrepreneurial activity, have opened the doors of their home, let me share with them a bit of their personal lives when I pass through their cities of residence, and give me free accommodation.

Thanks to all!
