Filamento by Astep. Where light begins.

May, 2026 • 2 Min. Read — General

Some pieces are born from intention. Others, from observation. Designed by Mayice Studio, Filamento emerges from that precise moment when light, as it passes through glass, reveals something unexpected: a suspended, almost immaterial luminous line. It is not a formal gesture, but the result of understanding how matter and energy can meet.

Shaping the invisible.

Constructed from a single undulating glass tube over one meter in length, Filamento is an exercise in precision. Its geometry guides light with accuracy, transforming it into a linear presence, contained and nearly intangible.

When switched off, the piece reads as a silent sculpture. When lit, matter recedes and light takes over the space. An architectural gesture that defines without imposing, that organizes without overwhelming.

System and composition.

Filamento is conceived as a modular system. It can inhabit a space as a single stroke or expand into larger compositions, adapting to different scales and contexts, from a focused presence above a table to installations that structure entire volumes.

Its capacity to grow does not alter its essence: clarity remains. Each module adds quietly, preserving the coherence of the whole.

Silent precision.

The technology behind it is deliberately simple. It uses a GU10 light source, accessible and replaceable, designed to extend the object’s lifespan beyond technological cycles. It is dimmable, allowing the atmosphere to be adjusted without losing definition.

Made in Italy, Filamento uses specially selected glass to withstand thermal variations, ensuring stability and durability over time.

Spaces defined by light.

Filamento does more than illuminate: it structures. Its linear presence introduces order, rhythm, and a sense of calm into the space. It finds its place in interiors where light plays an active role—hospitality projects, residential settings, or environments where function and emotion must coexist.

With Filamento, Astep continues to explore light as matter, not as a resource, but as a language. A piece that does not merely inhabit space, but defines it through what is essential.

Thanks

This website is dedicated to all those people who, in one way or another, have helped this project/dream/desire to begin and take shape.

Special thanks to my wife and my parents for supporting me, to Cristina Escarrà and Alfonso Pérez Rosales for generously sharing with me their experience as agents, to those clients who, in one way or another, have given me wise advice, to the brands that have placed their trust in me, and to Gonzalo, my godfather, who, with his always generous help, and guiding me throughout this process, is largely to blame for the fact that I can boast of being an “entrepreneur”.

Thanks also to Nuria, Rafa and Guillermo, who, to help me in the hard beginnings of any entrepreneurial activity, have opened the doors of their home, let me share with them a bit of their personal lives when I pass through their cities of residence, and give me free accommodation.

Thanks to all!
