Caló by Pott Project. Light born from memory.
There are objects that are not designed from scratch, but from memory. Caló is one of them. A lamp that gathers the essence of Mediterranean tradition and transforms it into a luminous presence, restrained and timeless.
Inspired by the botijo, that humble object that for centuries has been part of everyday rural life, Caló reinterprets an ancestral gesture and brings it into the present. Suspended in the air, like those vessels once hung from beams or branches, it preserves its formal simplicity: a generous volume that culminates in a handle, understood not only as a functional solution, but as a structural and symbolic element.
Material, form, and light.
Designed by Miguel Ángel García Belmonte, Caló emerges from a specific context: the dry landscape, the orchard, the warm earth, and the rhythm shaped by sunlight. Its rounded silhouette, with balanced proportions, contains light within and projects it downward in a controlled way, creating a focused beam that coexists with a calm volume.
Ceramic is not just the material, it is the language. Its density, texture, and ability to interact with light define the experience of the object. In a glossy finish, the surface reflects intensely, like an echo of the summer sun. In matte, it absorbs light and returns it softened, closer, more intimate.
Craftsmanship that builds atmosphere.
Each piece is handcrafted in ceramic clay, introducing subtle variations that reinforce its unique character. Available in the full Pott Project colour palette, Caló adapts to different contexts without losing its identity.
Its presence does not seek to impose, but to integrate. It evokes the hospitality of spaces where objects are not protagonists, but part of a shared memory. Places where light accompanies, defines, and builds atmosphere.
With Caló, Pott Project reaffirms a way of understanding design deeply rooted in its Mediterranean origins, an approach that values simplicity, functionality, and the beauty of the essential.
